The Literacy Trust’s Family Zone has now been incorporated into the new words for life website: a ‘one-stop’ shop for families including reading and writing activities, book lists, videos, audiobooks, competitions and reading challenges for early years to early teens.

There is also a virtual school library -https://wordsforlife.org.uk/virtual-school-library/ - where every week, an author or illustrator will post an exclusive video, free ebook or audiobook.

The Book Trust ( https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/)
The Book Trust’s Hometime Hub arranges reading resources for families by age group and provides a summary what’s on guide for every day of the week. In addition to free online books, videos, games, book-themed quizzes, activities and story times, the Book Trust illustrator in residence, Ed Vere will be contributing live draw-alongs and the Children’s Laureate, Cressida Cowell will live-stream every day from her shed, reading from her own books and others. Each session will include Q & A and creative activities. 

Free ebooks – The following sites provide access to free ebooks

https://www.getepic.com/ has free ebooks for families for 30 days for all levels on a range of topics. Digital library for children 12 and under. Instantly access 35,000 of the best books, learning videos, quizzes and more.

https://monkeypen.com/pages/free-childrens-books has 50 free ebooks suitable for ages 2-5 and 6-9.

Many authors are also doing free podcasts and amazon audible have a number of free books that can be downloaded. Please refer to their website for more information.
