RRSA Article 3: All organisations concerned with children should work towards what is best for the children.

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you all had a pleasant half-term break.

Congratulations to Year 6 and Year 2 pupils for the hard work they put into preparing for the SATs, I am sure that this will be paid off as they all performed at their best for the tests.

I’d also like to say Good Luck to Year 4 pupils who are currently doing the multiplication tests and to Year 1 and 2 pupils with their Phonics Screening tests.

As always, this final half-term is a busy one, so please check the website calendar regularly so that you don't miss out on anything.

After a very pleasing Ofsted inspection in March 2023 I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the staff, parents, Governors and pupils.

The report is available through the school website or by clicking the link below:

Ofsted Report March 2023

LPPA AWard

We have held numerous parent workshops, meetings and consultation this year and more are scheduled - please keep an eye on the school calendar and watch out for emails.

Thank you for supporting us to help improve our practice and sharing your voice so that we are able to review and make changes that support you.

This all goes towards supporting our application for the LPPA Award which is well on track to be completed - the assessment being in September 2023.

Please remember, we have an open door policy and welcome your feedback - pop into the office or contact us via phone or email with any queries or suggestions

Enrichment Events:

As a school we try very hard to offer pupils enriching experiences that support their learning. However, as budgets grow smaller, but costs continue to increase we are looking at having to reduce these.

This of course is not something we want to do, but it is inevitable unless parents support us by contributing towards the cost.

From September 2023, we shall be asking for contributions towards the cost of enrichment activities for your children. Up until now the school has not had to rely on these and have covered the cost as contributions never do so and actually those we do receive only cover about a quater of the actual cost.

This year we have offered:

Year 6 - Woman in WW1

Year 6 - Young Shakespeare Co: Macbeth

Christmas Pantomime for all

Jack & The Beanstalk production for all

Winter Wonderland event

Year 6 STEM workshop online

Life Long Ago Dinosaur visit for EYFS pupils

SUNSHINE!

With the beautiful summer sunshine comes the need to take precautions.

SUN CREAM

We recommend that you apply sun cream to your child/ren before they come to school. If that is not possible then they must be able to apply it themselves as each teacher cannot be responsible for creaming 30 children!

SUNHAT

We also suggest a named sunhat is put in your child’s bag and is in school each day, along with a bottle of water.

SUNGLASSES

Children are allowed to wear sunglasses, if necessary, while outside on the playground. They also must be named. Please be aware the school is not able to take responsibility for lost or broken glasses.

Reminder

For the safety of our pupils, it is policy that only Year 5 or 6 children – with parent permission only, can walk home alone. However, they will not be allowed to collect and bring younger siblings with them.

If you would like your Year 5 or 6 children to walk home alone then we require written permission from yourself.

We WILL NOT consider allowing younger pupils to walk home alone or with anyone under the age of 15 years of age!

Thank you

Keeping us updated

If you have changed your telephone number or your address, please update the office as soon as possible, it is vital that we have up-to-date telephone numbers in case of an emergency.

Lost Property

Once again we have a mountain of lost property in the office, feel free to come and have a look through for any lost items of clothing.

In order to make it easier for us to return items to the rightful owner, please ensure you name everything.

Attendance

It's great to see an improvement in attendance.

Every pupil has their own attendance card which is stamped when they get 100% attendance each week, 5 stamps are needed to achieve the goal.

Well done to 251 children who were prize winners last half term and received a 'goody bag'.

We hope to see more pupils collecting 5 stamps this half term.
