RRSA Article 3: All organisations concerned with children should work towards what is best for the children.

Thank you for helping to ensure a successful start to the school year.

I hope you all have a restful week and return to school on Monday 30th October ready to work hard and focus on becoming the best that you can be.

Enjoy the Half Term!!

Dear parent / carer,

Currently, 22% of Reception pupils at Camrose are classified as overweight or living with obesity - in line with national figures and slightly above the average for Harrow (which is 19%).

Currently, 41% of Year 6 pupils at Camrose are classified as overweight or living with obesity - this is above the national average of 34% and above the average in Harrow (which is 38%)

These are extremely concerning figures.

At Camrose we have increased sporting opportunities, banned crisps and chocolate bars as part of lunch and no longer accept pupils bringing in sweets or cake to celebrate birthdays. As part of our curriculum, we teach pupils about being healthy through fitness and their diet.

Unfortunately, we can only do so much!

We are asking parents to help us, help their children to maintain a healthy weight.

We repeatedly see parents, particularly with our younger pupils, offering sweets, chocolate and crisps daily to their children as they collect them.

From Monday 30th October (after the half-term) we shall be designating the school grounds as a No Unhealthy Snack zone.

Parents seen with sweets and crisps will be asked to put them away until they are off site.

We realise that pupils may be peckish at this point, so we are asking you to replace the sugary snack with a healthier option such as a piece of fruit or veg.

This applies to snacks given to pupils who are attending after-school clubs - sugary snacks will be taken home again by the child.

Uniform!!

Uniform is NOT optional!

Please ensure that your child attends school dressed appropriately – in school uniform.

This includes a shirt (not a polo shirt), a tie and black shoes.

As the weather becomes wetter and colder, often we see children wearing boots to school. This is absolutely fine as long as you ensure that your child has a pair of shoes to change into upon arrival at school.

Children should also be wearing a coat to school as they need this when then go out in the playground at break time and lunch time.

MOBILE PHONES

Year 5 and Year 6 children can bring a mobile phone to school ONLY if they walk to and from school alone.  Parents should fill out a mobile phone consent form. This is available from the office.  Mobile phones should then be switched off and brought to the office where they will be kept in a locked drawer during the day.

Attendance

We would like to remind parents that term-time holidays are not permitted.  We expect all children to be in school until Friday 20th October and return well rested on the 30th October.

Absences

If your child is absent from school, please leave a clear voice message on our answering machine stating your child's name and class and reason for absence.

Thank you.
